Buc gymnasts improving their scores

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers hosted the Waseca Bluejays last Thursday at the Winnebago gym.

The Buccaneers had a lot of momentum from their meets earlier this week. However, that didn’t seem to help as they went head-to-head with Waseca.

Waseca took the top score for a team total, with a score of 135.2.

The maroon and gold could only muster 95.225 points as a team.

BEA?scored 31.3 on the vault, 18.35 on bars, 23.725 on the beam and 21.85 on the floor.

However, Brianna Ziegler snagged the number four place in the all-around category. She racked up a total score of 23.30 points; 4.60 on bars, 7.675 on vault, 5.925 on beam and 5.10 on the floor exercise.

Waseca’s Maddy Swain took the top score in the all-around category with a score of 34.825.

The junior varsity gymnasts competed against Waseca, as well.

The Bluejays took the JV win with a team score of 110.75 while the Bucs had 26.80.

The Bucs had the weekend to find their footing and will travel to New Ulm tonight, Monday, Jan. 19 to face the Eagles.

The results from that meet will be featured in the next issue of the Faribault County Register.Double Dual Meet

The Blue Earth Area gymnasts hosted a double dual meet last Tuesday facing up against Windom and Martin County Area.

“I?can really see an improvement in the girls’ skills,”?coach Merissa Lore said.

BEA?vs. Windom Area

Although the Bucs didn’t take the top place as a team during their dual meet against Windom Area, several BEA?gymnasts placed.

Malorie Huber placed in three events with her top score coming on the vault. She took second place in that event with a best score of 8, being edged out by Windom’s Mareah Carlson who scored a best score of 8.40.

Huber tied for third with her floor exercise. She received a score of 7.25 and tied with Windom’s Tatum Paulson.

She also took one of the top spots on the bar and received an average score of 5.05 which put her in fourth place.

Briana Ziegler excelled on the beam during the meet against Windom. She received an average score of 7.075 which put her in a tie for second place with Tatum Paulson, of Windom.

Grace Leland took the third place position on the uneven bars with an average score of 6.

Windom took the overall win with a team total of 114.025 points. But, the Bucs weren’t too far behind they had a team total of 100.675.

BEA?vs. MCA

After competing against Windom, the Bucs took on the Martin County Area Magic.

Malorie Huber snagged the number two spot in the all-around category. She scored a 5.05 on the bars, 8 on the vault, 5.85 on the beam and 7.25 on the floor for a total of 26.15 points.

Her teammate Brianna Ziegler also placed in all around, coming in third with a total score of 25.975. She scored 4.55 on the bars, 7.725 on vault, 7.075 on beam and 6.625 on floor.

MCA’s Maggie Bachenberg took the top spot for all-around with a total score of 33.70; 8.65 on bars, 8.55 on vault, 8.65 on beam and 7.85 on floor.

The meet ended in MCA’s favor with a team total of 128.95. They had a 32.975 on vault, 30.30 on bars, 33.525 on beam and 32.15 on floor.

BEA?came in 28 points behind with a final score of 100.675. They had a 31.05 on vault, 19.10 on bars, 24.85 on beam and 25.675 on floor.

MCA?Invite

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers traveled to Welcome on Saturday, Jan. 10 to participate in the Martin County Area Invite.

Blue Earth Area went up against MCA, Jackson County Central and Luverne at the invite.

JCC took the championship with a team total of 139.55 points, MCA was second with 129.275, Luverne third with 126.425 and BEA?finished with a total of 95.175 points.

The Bucs scored the highest on the vault with a team score of 30.6. They also had 18.3 on the bars, 24.25 on the floor and 22.025 on the beam.

Unfortunately, the Bucs trailed in the invite with three other teams who seemed to excel on all four events.

JCC took the top spot for the vault with a team total of 36.025. Abby Schneekloth was the number one individual on the vault, scoring 9.2.

JCC?continued their streak scoring the highest team total on the bars with a tally of 32.7. JCC’s Haley Bass was the top gymnast in this event and scored 8.85.

The top team on the beam was JCC?again. They scored 36.35 and Schneekloth won that event, as well, with an individual score of 9.075.

JCC rounded out the events by winning the final event with a score of 36.35 on the floor exercise. Brielle Scheepstra of JCC?took first place in this event with a score of 9.4.

Brooklyn Schuett of JCC was the top all around gymnast with a total score of 34.475. Schneekloth, of JCC, was the second place all around gymnast and had a total score of 34.15.

Samantha Pierce, of Luverne, was third; Madison Schandelmeier, of Luverne, was fourth; Maggie Bachenberg, of MCA, was fifth and Bergin Flom, of Luverne, was sixth.
