Bucs take fourth place in Mankato quad meet

The Blue Earth Area gymnasts couldn’t quite hit the mark during a quad meet last Tuesday.

The Buccaneers traveled to Mankato where they went up against Mankato East, Mankato West and Waseca.

Mankato West came out in the number one position with a team total of 138.525.

Although the Bucs didn’t place during the quad meet, they did finish with a total team score of 96.75.

The best event for the Bucs seemed to be the vault where they produced a score of 29.825.

The Bucs also scored an 18.35 on the bars, 24.5 on the beam and 24.075 on the floor.

Mikaela Sellner, of Mankato West, was the number one in the all-around category with 35.45 total points. She was also first place on the floor, fourth place on the beam, first on the bars and fourth on the vault.

Miranda Deatley, also of Mankato West, was the number two all-around gymnast with a score of 34.775.

Lauren Kloss, of Mankato East, came in third place and Maddie Maruska, of Mankato West, rounded that category in fourth place.

Kloss took the win on the beam with a score of 8.8 and was also second on the vault with a 9.0.

Maruska was the first place gymnast in the vault category and scored a 9.35. She also took fifth place on the bars with a score of 7.925.

Only two Buccaneer gymnasts competed in the all-around category and those were Erin Olson and Brianna Ziegler.

Olson had a total score of 26.28 and Ziegler finished with 23.9 in total points.

The junior varsity also competed during the quad meet and finished with a team total of 53.7.

The Bucs hosted a meet on Friday night, however, it took place after the Faribault County Register deadline and results will be featured in the next issue.

“That was our last dual meet and was also parent’s night,”?co-coach Merissa Lore said.

After that, the Buc gymnasts will only have a couple of meets left.

“We will only have the Big South Conference Championship which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, and then section on Friday, Feb. 13,” Lore added.
