Gymnasts end regular season on a high note

The Buccaneers came close to a win during their meet against St. James.

Unfortunately, Blue Earth Area gymnastics fell by just six points when they hosted St. James last Friday in Winnebago.

“The girls had their best meet of the season,”?co-coach Merissa Lore said after the meet. “It was a good way to end our last home meet and regular meet of the season.”

BEA finished the day with a team total of 105.45 while the Saints tallied a total of 111.40.

The Bucs had 31.450 on the vault, 23.125 on bars, 24.025 on the beam and 26.85 on the floor.

Erin Olson came in second place in the all-around category. She had a total score of 27.625. Olson also took second place on the floor with a score of 7.075 and second on the bars with 7.25. Olson rounded out the day by coming in fourth place on the vault with a best score of 8.05.

Brianna Ziegler grabbed third place in all-around in the meet against St. James.

Ziegler placed third on the floor with a score of 6.675 and third on the beam with 7.125.

Malorie Huber also fell into some of the top spots during the meet. She placed second on the vault with an 8.25 and fourth on the floor with 6.650.

Gracie Leland excelled on the bar and took the fourth place with a score of 5.575. She also received a score of 6.75 for fourth place on the beam.

Sophie Lepp, of St. James, took first place in all-around with a total score of 35.3. She came in first on the floor with a score of 9.05, first on the beam with 9.275, first on the bar with 8.2 and first on the vault with a score of 8.775.

Kelli Nessler, of St. James, took fourth place in all-around and third in vault.

The meet against St. James was the Bucs’ last regular meet of the season. Their next meet will be the Big South Conference championship meet. The conference meet was held on Saturday, Feb. 7 in Waseca at 12 p.m. which was after the Faribault County Register deadline. Results from the Big South Conference meet will be featured in the next issue.
