Buc gymnasts take 13th place at Big South conference meet

It was a showdown between 13 teams at the Big South Conference gymnastics meet.

Blue Earth Area gymnasts traveled to Waseca to participate in the meet and landed in the bottom spot for the day.

The Buccaneers finished with an overall score of 102.775. They scored 31.475 on the vault, 20.625 on the bars, 24.3 on the beam and 26.375 on the floor.

The maroon and gold’s scores on the vault included; Hayley Jahnke with 7.6, Sydney Blagg with 7.55, Brianna Ziegler with 7.65, Erin Olson with 7.975 and Malorie Huber with 8.25.

On the bars; Ziegler had 3.85, Olson 7.725, Huber 4.0 and Katie Allis 3.4.

The Buccaneers scored on the beam with Blagg getting a 5.7, Ziegler with a 6.25, Olson with 5.9, Huber with 5.55 and Leland with 6.45.

The floor exercise was BEA’s second highest scoring event. Blagg scored 6.1, Ziegler scored 6.25, Olson 7.775, Huber had 6.250 and Ariana Nagel scored 5.950.

Despite their improved performance during the BSC?meet, the Bucs just couldn’t place any higher than 13th.

Jackson County Central took the number one position as a team. They had a total of 140.5 points, scoring; 36.050 on the vault, 33.675 on bars, 34.1 on beam and 36.675 on the floor.

The next two places went to Worthington in second place with a team total of 139.35 and Waseca in third with 137.350.
