Bailey Olson lone Buc boy on All-BSC list

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers boys basketball team landed just one player on the Big South Conference All-Conference list which was released recently.

Bailey Olson, the Bucs’ 6-foot-3 senior forward represented the team on the All-BSC East Division list.

Olson led the team in several categories and had an impressive list of statistics compiled during his senior year.

He had a 15.7 points per game average, amassing 376 in his final season with the Bucs. And, near the end of the year, hit his 1,000th point of his high school career.

This past season Olson was 129 for his 230 attempts at field goal shots. Plus he was 9 of 35 in three-point shot attempts. He also made 109 of the 168 free throws he shot during the season.

Olson grabbed 162 rebounds during the year, for a 6.5 rebound per game average. In addition, he had 24 steals, 30 assists and 16 blocks.

Olson also played football, track and golf while at BEA.

This fall Olson will be playing football for the NCAA?Division II Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs, as a wide receiver.

Waseca, which won the East Division of the BSC, had three players on the all-conference list. Fairmont and St. Peter had two each, and New Ulm and St. Peter one each.

Waseca (9-1) lost the overall BSC championship to West Division leaders Marshall (12-0) in the conference crossover game.

BEA, which ended with a 2-6 conference record, lost their conference cross over game to Pipestone (5-7) by a score of 72-48.
