With a new sign and a new management team, the workforce of Brakebush took a moment from their busy schedules to pose for a photo at the Wells plant. Brakebush is the poultry-based food processing plant that purchased Wells Food Processing just recently on April 21. The company has two other plants in the U.S.

"This is very exciting news for Wells," she said.

Brakebush is planning to add a second production shift at the Wells facility by the middle of July that should add an additional 25 people, bringing the total employee numbers to approximately 70.

The 100,000 square foot plant also has the space available to add more processing lines in the future which, would significantly increase the product output and required team members. That means more jobs for Wells.

"We are excited adding Brakebush to our industrial base and the manufacturing jobs they'll bring to our community," said Leslie.

Brakebush Brothers, Inc. is located in Westfield, Wisconsin, a town of about 1,200 people, where the company has been for 91 years.

Brothers William and Otto Brakebush started the business and have been working with poultry since then. The company takes pride in being US owned and opperated by the Brakebush family.

Brakebush provides the food industry with safe, high quality chicken products. Brakebush customers prosper through innovative solutions and highly personalized relationships with the company.

The business currently employs 975 people at its state-of-the-art processing facility and corporate headquarters in Wakefield. They also operate a raw portioning plant in Irving, Texas.

Brakebush acquired the Texas plant three years ago and has more than doubled the business, the processing capacity, and increased its employees from 315 to now over 660.

Company president Scott Sanders says that Brakebush is very excited to add Wells as its third processing facility.

"We have worked together with Wells on various projects over this past year and found the team members a pleasure to work with. We sensed right away that we had a partner in Wells that supports the same commitment to quality that we stand for," says Sanders. "We were very enthusiastic at the prospect of acquuiring Wells Food Processing and pushed forward quickly to reach an agreement. Adding the Wells facility puts us in a great position to continue to grow our existing customer base and aggressively pursue new business."

"We believe that Wells and the surrounding communities share the similar rural Midwestern values and work ethic that have made our company successful and an integral part of our community. Although more urban, the Irving, Texas team has fit in great with the Westfield, Wisconsin team and we anticipate the same with Wells," stated Sanders.

From these two facilities, Brakebush services a wide array of customers in the fast casual, college/university, healthcare, school, convenience store, national chain, and retail segments with over 200 chicken products.
