Just a few quick items were on Wells' City Council agenda last week.

The 24-minute meeting, with the full council in attendance, went over the month's payments, financials, and other monthly city matters, as well as hearing from multiple board members on their monthly minutes from their meetings.

In those minutes, the council found out the Wells Flame Theatre board had a resignation from both of its co-chairs, Jeff and Ila Teskey. The letter from the Teskeys simply read, "This serves as notice that Jeff and Ila Teskey will be resigning as co-chairpersons for the Flame Theatre Board effective December 31, 2016."

Jeff Teskey also announced his future resignation from the Wells Public Utilities board as he plans to retire next May.

Co-city administrator and chief of police Tim Brenegan informed the council of the loss of a Wells Police Department SUV vehicle.

In an email, Brenegan explained to the City Council, "during the morning of October 22, we experienced a catastrophic loss of our SUV?from the storms. The insurance company deemed it to be a total loss and we have ordered a new one to replace it."

The vehicle was going to be replaced in March as the lease was set to expire, Brenegan said.

He also informed the council on a Citizen's Academy opportunity. He said the plan is to accept up to 10 people. The academy will last roughly six weeks.

Street foreman Mike Pyzick informed the council of the roadwork taking place in the city. He said the road repairs on First Street NW and Third Avenue NW?are both complete, thus completing roadwork for the city for 2016.

At the meeting, the city also discussed canceling its Nov. 28 meeting, and scheduling City Council budget workshops for both Nov. 7 and 14. The budget workshops will take place at 4 p.m. on Nov. 7 and 5 p.m. on Nov. 14.

Mayor Ron Gaines also reminded the council and members of the public that Wells' Truth-in-Taxation Hearing will be held Monday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m. at the Wells Community Center.
