Buc volleyball defeats 2 Saint teams

It took four games, but the Blue Earth Area Buccaneer volleyball team pulled out their sixth win of the season last Thursday night when they downed the St. Peter Saints 3-1 in Blue Earth.

The Buccaneers took the first game 25-21, but then St. Peter came back with a decisive 25-12 win in game two to knot it up 1-1.

The BEA girls fought hard in the next two games, both of which were close, and won them 25-21, 25-19. That gave them the big 'W' and put their season record at 6-5 and their Big South Conference record at 4-1.

Buccaneer fans had a lot to cheer about last Thursday night as the Bucs defeated the St. Peter Saints 3-1. BEA’s Lindsey Norman goes high above the net for one of her 10 kills against the St. Peter defense.

Sofie Blair and Lindsey Norman were on fire at the net, each of them hammering down 10 kills to lead the Bucs.

Blair added an impressive 13 digs and two ace blocks, while Norman had nine digs and four ace blocks.

Samantha Naumann had a big night serving the ball for the Bucs. She was 19 of 21 from the line, with four ace serves and 13 service points for the team.

BEA's Maddi Oelke had another standout performance with her five kills, 12 digs and four ace blocks. She was also a team leader at the serving line, going 15 of 18 with two ace serves and 12 service points for the maroon and gold.

ssa Norman had 30 set assists and added two ace blocks for the team's winning performance. Alyssa Ripley was also strong at the net with four ace blocks.

Next up for the Buccaneers of BEA are two more BSC contests. They will travel to New Ulm on Tuesday, then host Fairmont at home on Thursday.

BEA 3, St. James 0

A clean sweep.

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer volleyball team cruised past the St. James Saints last Tuesday evening on the Bucs' home court.

BEA won in three games, 25-11, 25-16, 25-11.

The victory evened up the maroon and gold's season record at 5-5, and it gave them a 3-1 record in the Big South Conference.

The Buccaneer team was firing on all cylinders, as several team members used their skills to ensure the win.

Lindsey Norman and Maddi Oelke both led the team with six kills each, while Sidney Blair, back in the lineup after recovering from an injury, had five and Alissa Norman and Hannah Johnson each contributed four.

Lindsey Norman also had seven digs and two ace blocks, as well as going 12 of 14 from the service line with three ace serves and 10 team points.

Her sister Alissa had 20 set assists along with a 13 for 14 serving record with five ace serves and nine service points.

Sofie Blair led the team in digs with nine, while going 12 of 13 from the serving line with two ace serves and nine service points.

Samantha Naumann was perfect at the service line, going 13 of 13 with an ace and also added nine service points. Oelke also had four ace blocks while Alyssa Ripley contributed three ace blocks at the net.

Next up for the Bucs was another critical BSC match up, this time with the Saints from St. Peter.
