Local no barking ordinance riles dog owners

WADENA, Minn. (AP) — A 'no barking' ordinance in a Minnesota community has riled some dog owners.

City leaders in Wadena have passed a local law which prohibits dogs in some parts of the community from barking or making noise from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Dog owners and the local Humane Society say it's inhumane to keep dogs quiet that long. The 'no barking' ordinance applies to commercial zones and includes the Humane Society and surrounding neighborhood.

WCCO-TV ( ) says the City Council is asking the Humane Society to construct a higher fence around its property so dogs would be less likely to bark at their surroundings.
