The Buccaneer boys basketball team from Blue Earth Area was awarded the No. 1 seed in Section 2A West – Class AA Sub-Section Boys Basketball Tournament.

The Bucs will host the No. 8 seeded LeSueur-Henderson Giants in the opening round. The game is set for Tuesday night, March 10, at 8:01 p.m. in the BEA gym.

The strange start time is due to state-wide township annual meetings that evening.

If the Bucs win, they will go on to face the winner of Tuesday’s LCWM (No. 5 seed) vs. WEM (No. 4 seed) game. The second game is scheduled for March 12 at 5 p.m. at Mankato East.

Belle Plaine was seeded No. 2, and plays No. 7 seed Montgomery-Lonsdale. No. 3 seed Maple River faces No. 6 seed USC in the opening round.

The finals are set for Saturday, March 16 at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
