Evan Gough

In a unanimous decision, the Blue Earth Area School Board officially selected Evan Gough as their preferred superintendent candidate Thursday evening.

The two parties will now enter into contract negotiations and an official contract is scheduled to be agreed upon at the March 12 school board meeting.

Gough is currently the assistant high school principal in Red Wing. In total, he has five years of high school administrative experience in both Red Wing and Annandale. Prior to becoming an administrator, he has seven years of experience as a math teacher in Salem, Aberdeen and Sioux Falls S.D.

Gough has a masters from South Dakota State and is currently in the process of earning his dissertation from the University of South Dakota in school administration.

School board members were impressed with Gough’s energy, leadership style and overall focus on academic achievement.

If a contract is agreed upon, Gough will take over the role as BEA superintendent July 1.
