Drowning in Bass Lake, fire in Winnebago – Click here for details

There was a drowning at Bass Lake near Winnebago on Friday, according to official reports.

The Winnebago Fire Department received the call at 10:40 p.m. Winnebago also called for assistance from the Blue Earth Fire Department.

They found that two men had been fishing on Bass Lake, just north of Winnebago, when the boat capsized one man made it out, while the other did not.

According to reports, the victim was a 27-year-old man from Filmore County. The name has not yet been released.

After the victim’s body was recovered, the Winnebago Fire Department received a page for a house fire in Winnebago.

Jesse Haugh, the Winnebago Fire Chief, stated that other members of the fire department along with the Blue Earth Fire Department were able to get to the scene within minutes of receiving the page.

The fire was located at 213 Fifth Avenue Southeast. There were no injuries and the fire was contained and put out rather quickly.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and is still under investigation.
