No decision on type of parking in downtown Blue Earth – Click here for details
The Faribault County Board of Commissioners met in a special meeting on Tuesday morning, Sept. 29, for the sole purpose of deciding on the type of parking in a two block area of downtown Blue Earth. At issue was whether it should be diagonal or parallel.
But after much discussion and four motions the County Board did not reach a decision.
Commissioner Greg Young made three motions, all seconded by commissioner John Roper and all had to do with allowing diagonal parking on both sides of the street or letting the Blue Earth City Council decide. The first two motions failed to pass on 3-2 votes. The third motion was eventually withdrawn.
A fourth motion was to seek attorney advice on the liability issues involved with diagonal parking. It did pass.
