The well known Rogers and Hammerstein’s musical ‘Oklahoma!’ is coming to the stage in Winnebago.

The Winnebago Area Musical Players (WAMP) will present the musical this weekend, April 11, 12 and 13 at the Winnebago Elementary School Gymnasium.

The production is under the direction of Lois Willmert. John Engesser is the pianist.

“We have been working hard on the production,” Willmert said. “We have a very dedicated cast.”

Starring as Curly is Tim Yates. Morgan Dickman is Laurey, and Rob Nelson is Jud Fry.

Melissa Fenske as Ado Annie, and Tom Hoffman as Ali Hakim are making their WAMP debuts.

The cast totals 35 people and the show includes many favorite Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein songs. Among them are “Oh, What A Beautiful Morning,” and “People Will Say We’re In Love.”

The musical debuted on Broadway on March 31, 1943, and later was made into a movie in 1955. It was the first musical of Rogers and Hammerstein.

Tickets are $6 general admission and $7 reserved. They are available at the door and at First National Bank.

WAMP is a local community theater organization serving the Winnebago area. They have presented a musical production every April for the past 16 years.
