Cities in Faribault County elect mayors, councilmen
Cities in Faribault County elected mayors and city council members in elections last Tuesday. Here is a wrap-up of those results:
Bricelyn
Tom Cory narrowly defeated Thomas Sens for mayor, winning 88 to 80. Bob Carroll was a distant third with 22 votes.
Greg Thompson and Mike Henning were elected to the city council with 90 and 85 votes respectively. David Wertjes was a close third with 80 votes, Sara Voges tallied 56, Rhonda Johnson 42 and Dennis Johnson 34.
Delavan
Kevin Walker ran unopposed for mayor and received 75 votes, with 24 write-ins.
Kath Johnson ran unopposed for council and had 81 votes with 58 write-ins.
Easton
John Becker was unopposed for mayor and received 115 votes. There were six write-ins.
Lanny Johnson and Brian Sonnek were elected to the council with 116 and 80 votes respectively. There were 17 write-ins.
Elmore
Floyd Ford was elected mayor with 224 votes. There were 30 write-in votes cast.
Edrys (Eddy) Viland and Pat Coupanger were elected to the council with 163 and 161 votes respectively. Dustin Dierenfeldt had 80 votes, and there were 70 write-ins.
Frost
Jacob Anderson was elected mayor with 105 votes. There were 11 write-ins.
Brian (Bob) Loge and Robert Evans were elected to the Frost City Council with 84 and 66 votes, respectively. Roberta Spangenberg was a close third with 62 votes and there were 5 write-ins.
Kiester
Roger Oldfather was elected mayor with 294 votes. He was running unopposed. There were nine write-ins.
Donald Jensen and Marcus Elvebak were elected to the council with 198 and 168 votes respectively. Richard Jensen received 120 votes, Jeanne Brooks 88, and there were two write-ins.
Ted Mattick won the special election to the council with 206 votes. Machelle (Shelly) Steinke had 66 votes and there were three write-ins.
Kiester voters also passed a ballot question allowing Sunday liquor sales. The vote was 194 yes to 122 no.
Minnesota Lake
Bruce Beyer was elected mayor with 294 votes. Brian Bruckhoff had 66, and there were three write-ins.
Lonnie Stenzel and Edith (Edie) More were elected to the council with 271 and 242 votes respectively. Trisha Brown had 96 votes, Barbara Ramos 47 and there were four write-ins.
Walters
David Meyer was elected mayor, receiving 34 votes. He was unopposed. There were eight write-in votes cast.
Steve Brenke was elected to the council with 34 votes. Lisa Baumann was the top write-in vote getter, with 12, for the other seat. There were 30 other write-in votes.
Wells
Shannon Savick was elected mayor in a close contest. She had 575 votes, with the other challenger, Diane Dulas, receiving 520 votes. There were 107 write-in votes.
Stephen Burns and Ashley Dylla were elected to the council with 803 and 499 votes respectively. Mike Weber was a close third with 459 votes. David Braun had 281 votes and Michelle More had 192. There were seven write-ins.
