EDC unveils new name
The organization formerly known as the Faribault County Regional Development Corporation has changed its operating name to Go Minnesota.
The name change, in conjunction with a new logo, are the first phase of what promises to be a new aggressive marketing program, says the director of the group.
“We want to promote the region as an exciting, attractive and profitable place to conduct business and raise a family,” says David Piggott.
The name change aims at identifying the county with the state and a larger region that includes Southern Minnesota, Northern Iowa, and even the Twin Cities.
“We intend to use and promote all of the assets at our disposal,” says Go Minnesota Chairman Bill Eckles. “The name ‘Go Minnesota’ is active, aggressive, and energetic,” he adds.
The maroon, grey and black logo is circular and includes both a bar graph and a line graph indicating growth.
“Any business person can immediately identify with the message the logo is conveying,” states Treasurer Jeff Lang. “It’s modern and indicates growth, which is the message we are trying to get across,” adds Lang. The organization was founded earlier this year with the mission of promoting growth and development in Faribault County. It recently brought Piggott on board to lead its efforts. Piggott has 20 years of development marketing experience in Minnesota, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
“My initial impression was that there was an inherent confusion between the City of Faribault and Faribault County,” he said. “Go Minnesota eliminates that confusion and pushes us to the top of search engines when people search for business information about Minnesota,” he adds.
