Family of shooting victim files suit
The mother of a Bricelyn teen boy who lost his left eye in a shooting accident in July is seeking damages.
Kim Jacobson has filed a personal injury civil suit on behalf of her son Collin Jacobson. She is requesting more than $50,000 for pain and suffering the family has gone through, medical expenses in excess of $377,000, cost of future medical bills and attorney fees.
Jacobson was shot in the face July 22 when he and his friend Daniel Stallkamp were handling a loaded pistol at Eugene Stallkamp’s house when it discharged.
The suit against Daniel Stallkamp and his grandfather contends the Stallkamps’ carelessness, negligence and unlawful conduct contributed to Jacobson’s injuries.
The complaint states Daniel Stallkamp had a criminal history that included carrying and possession of a pistol without a permit in a public place and possession of dangerous weapons, such as metal knuckles or a switchblade.
