Winnebago Moto Fest Celebrates 30 Years

Cars, food and fun are in store for everyone attending this year’s Moto Fest, held in Winnebago Aug. 7-8.

Activities get under way Friday, Aug. 7, with the Lutheran Pie and Ice Cream Social beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing until 7 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Afterward, visitors will not want to miss the Bathtub Races, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Beginning at 6 p.m. in West City Park is a free concert featuring ‘Steve Lang.’ This event is sponsored by Shorty’s Plumbing. At 9 p.m., another free concert is scheduled at the park. Sponsored by Precision Concrete, the featured entertainers are ‘Starfire.’ Refreshments will be available on the grounds.

Saturday, Aug. 8, kicks-off at 6:30 a.m. with a Firemen’s Pancake Breakfast in the Municipal Center. Serving will continue through 10 a.m.

The 5K Fun Race or Walk begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by Crazy Days and a Flea Market on Main Street starting at 8 a.m.

Kids activities will be held throughout the day beginning at 8 a.m. in the West City Park. Also beginning at 8 a.m. in the park, is car show registration.

Rodeo Slack Preview is open to the public at 9 a.m. in the West City Park along with an Antique Tractor Showing from 9 a.m.-noon.

The Presbyterian Church will open its doors to the Quilt Show at 9 a.m. and will run until 2 p.m. It will feature quilts of valor by Linda Bakken.

Kids will definitely want to make it to the Coin Dig in West City Park at 9:30 a.m. This event is being sponsored by the First Financial Bank. Immediately following this will be registration at 10 a.m. for the Kiddie Parade which is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.

Starting time in West City Park for the Car Show and Special Interest Vehicles is 10 a.m. Awards will be presented at 2 p.m.

At 11 a.m. the food stands open for the day. Moto Fest attendees may try their hand at the dunk tank or bingo from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and from noon until 2, the Muir Library is sponsoring Art in the Park for kids pre-school to third grade in the East Shelter. Scheduled to entertain at 1 p.m. are the ‘Andrew Sisters Plus 1.’

Moto Fest will again host a parade at 3 p.m. followed by a car cruise at 4 p.m.

Saturday night, the Lions Pork Feed is slated for 5-7 p.m. in the East Shelter at West City Park. From 6-8 p.m. is a rodeo sanctioned by St. Peter Rodeo.

Shuttle rides will be provided to this West City Park event. Tickets must be purchased in advance or at the gate.

Concluding 2009’s Moto Fest celebration is a street dance behind the old grocery store. Beginning at 8:30 p.m., it will feature the talents of ‘Rambone.’
