Dr. Lee to leave UHD employment
United Hospital District and Clinics may be looking for a new general surgeon.
UHD administrator Jeff Lang says Dr. William Lee submitted his letter of resignation last week.
“We visited on Thursday (March 11). It was unexpected. I’m always surprised when we have a physician who resigns,” says Lang.
Lee is expected to remain employed as a physician for UHD until July 1.
“He will be transitioning to a non-employee status,” Lang says.
The hospital administrator would not comment what reason Lee gave in his letter for resigning.
As a general surgeon, Lee performs a variety of procedures which include colonoscopies and Lap Band surgeries.
UHD board members received word of Lee’s resignation through an e-mail.
Lee, who has been employed with UHD for five years, used an inner-office e-mail to notify co-workers of his decision to leave the hospital.
In his letter to employees, Lee stressed he is not leaving the area and will continue to practice in Blue Earth.
“The individuals who work at United Hospital District and people of Blue Earth area have generously contributed to my successful surgical practice. I look forward to giving back what has been so graciously given to me,” he wrote.
Lee adds he looks forward to contributing to UHD’s future overall success
“Details of my practice will be forthcoming,” he says.
Lang says Lee has indicated he will continue to be an active member of UHD’s medical staff.
