Six want BE seat

By Staff | Jun 7, 2010

There is no lack of people interested in serving on the Blue Earth City Council.

Six people applied to fill the post vacated recently by Councilman Rick Scholtes. Scholtes resigned when he moved from Ward 3 to Ward 1.

The six persons who made formal application are; Rhonda Gustafson, Gary Meyer, Daniel Warner, John Gartzke, Todd Heenan and Paula Kelly.

Meyer and Kelly both ran against Scholtes in the most recent election.

“I was a little surprised by the number of people who applied,” City Administrator Kathy Bailey says. “But, it is nice there is this much interest in serving the city.”

The council’s plan is to interview all six applicants as part of the regular City Council meeting set for this Monday evening.

“The council has indicated they will make a decision as to who to appoint, after the interviews are completed,” Bailey says.
