City races set for B.E., Elmore, Wells
Three area cities will have contested races for council seats in the November general election.
In Blue Earth, Rick Scholtes, Corey Survis and Paula Nuessmeier are running for the Ward 1 four-year term council seat.
Ward 2 Councilman Les Wiborg will face Russ Erichsrud for a four-year position.
John Gartzke and Gary Meyer are seeking the four-year seat in Ward 3.
The other Ward 3 race, for a two-year term, has incumbent Paula Kelly going up against Allen Aukes.
Running for a four-year term on the board of public works are Dan Mensing and Mark Loge.
Only one person filed for mayor in Wells, but four persons are vying for two council seats.
Councilman Ron Gaines has decided to run for the two-year mayoral position and will be unopposed.
Councilman Mike Weber is seeking another four-year term. Also filing were Ann Marie Schuster, Jim Durfee and Jerry Schroeder.
There will be a two-way race for mayor in Elmore.
Acting Mayor Keven Sullivan is being challenged by Bill Hurd for the two-year post.
Four candidates are seeking election to two four-year seats. They are, incumbent Jim Volz, Kris (Rhoda) Travis, Marlys Jagerson and Lorman Jahnke.
All the races in Winnebago will be unopposed.
Mayor Randy Nowak is seeking another two years, while Scott Robertson and Stacy Huntington Scofield will be on the ballot for two four-year term council seats.
In the school board elections, United South Central will have five candidates running for three seats.
Vying for the four-year term positions are John Feist, incumbents Kari L. Jacobson, Chris Olson and Nancy Ulrich, and Sharon Parriott.
All the incumbents have filed for re-election to four seats on the Blue Earth Area School Board.
Running unopposed will be Terry Cahill, Mary Eckhardt, Vicki Hanson and Jesse Haugh. All positions are for four years.
