The Winnebago American Legion made the first official donation to the Winnebago Community Veterans Memorial Tuesday night. Post Commander Robert Thorson presented memorial board member Jerry Johannsen a check for $4,000.

The final cost of the memorial will be $55,000 to $60,000. All funds will be raised through private donations and fundraisers. To see more of this article, see this week’s Register.
