UHD project complete, over budget
We are FINISHED!
That message was part of United Hospital District administrator Jeff Lang’s written report given to board members at their Tuesday meeting.
The good news — the $15 million expansion and renovation of the hospital campus is complete.
The slightly bad news — final cost of the project was about $170,000 over budget.
“For a project that size to be within 1 percent of the estimated cost is extraordinary,” chief financial officer Larry Lee told board members.
The district’s other multi-million dollar project did not cost as much as expected.
The new adolescent treatment center in Winnebago was built for $4.124 million, less than the $4.2 million projected.
In other news, the search has started for another family practice physician.
A Dallas-based recruiter has been hired.
“I’m anticipating it’s going take us nine to 18 months to hire someone,” says Lang. “It took us two years before hiring the last one.”
While rural areas have a harder time attracting family practice physicians, UHD?has been quite successful.
