Toland files to run for Martin Co. seat again

By Staff | May 27, 2012

Winnebago police chief and Nashville Township resident Bob Toland wants a rematch for the District 1 seat in Martin County.

Toland filed on Wednesday for the commissioner’s seat held by Elliot Belgard.

“I’m going to give it another shot. I did some polling and found that I won all precincts but three,” he says.

Belgard defeated Toland last February in a special election by some 56 votes with only 20 percent of the register voters going to the polls.

Toland believes with the presidential election in November voter turnout will be higher and that could help him in his race.

In Faribault County, former sheriff Scott Campbell decided on Wednesday not to run for the District 1 commissioner’s seat.

Campbell says he has “too many irons in the fire” at this time to serve on the board if elected.
