Moto Fest plus Brew Fest equals…

By Staff | Mar 9, 2015

Cities and small towns in Minnesota often utilize the summer months to invite visitors into their community many times in the form of town celebrations.

The city of Winnebago is no different. In fact, for the past couple of years they have been hosting events on two separate weekends during the summer.

But that is all about to change because this summer, the two previous town celebrations Craft Brew Fest and?Moto Fest will be combined into one big weekend celebration.

“This will hopefully bolster attendances and make good use of resources such as the big tents, advertising expenses and all the necessary manpower it takes to pull off town celebrations,” Jesse Haugh of Winnebago says in a message posted on the City of Winnebago’s Facebook page.

Bago Fun Fest will be held during the weekend of June 19-21 in Winnebago and will include all of the favorite activities from the separate events of the past year

“Times and dates are moving around a bit right now,”?adds Haugh.

But, the city of Winnebago has posted a tentative schedule of events on their Facebook page to help people who are planning to attend the weekend events.

The schedule currently includes: the Bevcomm customer appreciation lunch, a hog roast, rodeo, moonlight bowling and a street dance for Friday; volleyball tournaments, softball tournaments, 5k run-walk-bike, coin dig, kiddie parade, Brew Fest, parade, car cruise and street dance on Saturday; and the car show, community breakfast, community chuch service, pedal pull and draft horse pull on Sunday.

“The tractor pull will still be the first weekend in August,”?Haugh adds.

It was first announced at a Winnebago City Council meeting in January that the events were going to be combined. Jessi Sturtz, the deputy city clerk, explained the most recent discussion about the summer events.

“The decision was made on Jan. 12 to combine Brew Fest and Moto Fest,” she said at the January council meeting. “We wanted to try to keep all the schedules and activities the same.” Since January, the group has continued to make progress with planning and it was announced via social media tha the Winnebago Fire Department has secured the band ‘ROCK GODZ’ for the street dance on June 20.

“We will be soliciting funds to put on a great weekend of entertainment in the future,” Haugh adds.

The group is also open to suggestions of any new ideas to add to the weekend and comments about what people want to see happen or could do without. Any donations can be dropped off at city hall.
