Blue Earth city admin- istrator Tim Ibisch, in sport coat, discusses the demolition of the Andy’s Oriental Cafe building with Oswald Brewery owner John Oswald. Oswald’s building is located next door and he had some concerns with the structure of the walls between the two buildings.

The former Andy’s Oriental Cafe was demolished last week, starting on Monday. The restaurant, located on Main Street in Blue Earth, had been closed for several years. It had also once been the home to several bakeries and a bar, at

different times in its history. The city of Blue Earth took over ownership of the building last fall, when they did a land swap with the owner, Andy Huynh. The city gave Huynh a lot next to his home on Seventh Street, in exchange for ownership of the cafe building. The city received several bids for the demolition work but took the low bid of $25,000 for the project from Beemer Companies of Fairmont. City administrator Tim Ibisch said the city wanted the demolition work completed before the reconstruction of Main Street project begins about June 1.
