By Staff | May 27, 2018

Several people have filed for the open offices in Faribault County, and all of them are the incumbents, so far.

The filing period to be on the ballot in this coming fall election began last Tuesday, May 22, and will continue through to Tuesday, June 5, at 5 p.m.

Filing so far are John Thompson for county auditor-treasurer, Sheryl “Sherry” Asmus for county recorder, Mike Gormley for county sheriff, Kathryn Karjala-Curtis for county attorney and Greg Young for District 2 county commissioner.

No one has yet filed for the open position of county commissioner from District 4, currently held by Tom Loveall.

District 2 encompasses the city of Blue Earth Wards 1 and 2, as well as the townships of Verona, Jo Daviess and Pilot Grove. District 4 encompasses the cities of Winnebago, Delavan and Easton, and the townships of Winnebago, Delavan, Prescott, Lura and Barber.

Two Soil and Water District supervisor positions are also open for Districts 3 and 5.

The time for state office candidate filing is this same period and those candidates may file in their home counties or with the Secretary of State’s office.

The filing period for local city elected offices is later in August and will also be for a two-week period.

Filing can be made at the auditor’s office in the Faribault County Courthouse.
