Two hurt in 2-car accident
An accident on Monday, July 2, between Frost and Bricelyn, resulted in multiple injuries to two Faribault County men.
The accident occurred at 5:36 p.m. at the intersection of 490th Avenue and 40th Street, about four miles west and one mile south of Bricelyn, or three miles south and two east of Frost, according to a report from the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office.
Gary Courrier, 76, of rural Bricelyn, was southbound on 490th Avenue, driving a 2005 Chrysler 300. Gavin Johnson, 20, of Blue Earth, was westbound on 40th Street when his 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix collided with Courrier’s vehicle.
Johnson had failed to yield at the sign on 40th Street and his Pontiac struck the driver’s side of Courrier’s Chrysler, according to the sheriff’s report.
Johnson was transported by Frost Ambulance to United Hospital District emergency room in Blue Earth. Courrier was transported by Buffalo Center, Iowa, Ambulance to Mayo Health Systems Albert Lea with minor injuries.
Assisting on the scene were the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, Frost Fire Department, Frost Ambulance, Bricelyn Fire Department, Bricelyn Ambulance, Rake (Iowa) Fire Department, Buffalo Center (Iowa) Ambulance and Winnebago County (Iowa) Sheriff’s Office.
