W’bago starts search for an administrator

By Staff | Apr 14, 2019

The Winnebago City Council formalized the search for a new city administrator at their meeting Tuesday, April 9.

An agreement with South Central Service Cooperative was approved by the council authorizing SCSC to act as search consultants. The cost of recruitment is expected not to exceed $1,500.

The search will begin with the posting of the open position in national, regional and professional publications. This is slated to take place April 10-15.

During the time period from April 15 to May 15 the advertisements will be published. The search consultant will meet with the mayor, council and committee members to review the process and expectations.

SCSC will review and rank applicants and perform preliminary checks from May 15-22. The search consultant will also select applicants for first round interviews and prepare interview materials and recommended question lists.

The search committee will conduct the first round interviews from June 3-8. They will also select three applicants for second round interviews.

Second round interviews will be conducted by the City Council June 10 through June 22. It is also recommended the council provide an opportunity for the public to meet the finalists.

If the timeline works out, a new city administrator will be appointed on July 9.
