Construction is on schedule in Wells
Work on new funeral home, townhomes, progressing this year
It has been a nice summer for people in the construction industry and a couple of projects in Wells are changing the landscape of the city. One of those is on the north end of town.
“We are still projecting to be in our new facility by the end of January,” Brandon Nasinec, of Nasinec Funeral Home and Crematory, said.
The site of the new building is in the northwest part of town on State Highway 22, in the Wells Business Park.
A groundbreaking for the facility was held earlier this year on April 13.
“The new structure is a little over 14,000 square feet in size,” Nasinec commented. “The walls are up, the windows are in, the roof is sheeted and shingling should begin later this week.”
Sue and Nate Nasinec purchased the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in 2008 and have operated the business under that name. Once the new facility is operational, they will change the name to Nasinec Funeral Home and Crematory.
Elsewhere in Wells, work is progressing at 250 Second Ave. SW, the site of the former United South Central School, where two new townhouses are currently under construction.
One of the townhouses is privately owned while the other is owned by the city’s Housing Redevelopment Authority.
“Things are moving along at a nice pace,” city administrative assistant Tiffany Schrader shared. “I believe we are still on target for things being completed this fall.”
She pointed out the townhouses were not the only construction project taking place in the area.
“Work has also started on a new road which will provide access to the new homes,” she added.
There is a chance of some rain in the forecast, but with the buildings already closed in, work can continue on the interior of the buildings as the contractors work to complete the projects on schedule.
