Three candidates interviewed for open city administrator position

By Chuck Hunt - Editor | Feb 13, 2022

The search for a new city administrator in Winnebago is progressing, and a decision could be made as soon as this week.

The city had received three applications for the position of city administrator, and the city’s Personnel Committee interviewed all three candidates early last week.

As of press time for this week’s edition of the Register, no decision had been made by the committee whether to recommend one, two or all three of the candidates to be interviewed by the full council, according to council member Jean Anderson, who is also a member of the Personnel Committee.

The Winnebago City Council has called a special council meeting for Tuesday night, Feb. 15, at 5:30 p.m. for the purpose of conducting interviews of any candidates recommended by the committee.

The council could conduct interviews, then decide to proceed with contract negotiations with one of the candidates, or could also decide to reopen the process to seek further applications.

The names of the three candidates were not being released to the public or media, pending their becoming finalists for the position, Anderson said.
