Memorial Day programs set for the area

Communities around Faribault County are busy preparing for their celebrations of Memorial Day, coming up on Monday, May 30.
Following is information on some of the celebrations this year.
Blue Earth
The Memorial Day Program in Blue Earth will again be in Memorial Square at Riverside Cemetery, at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30.
Master of Ceremonies will be Paul Kafka. He will also lead the Raising of the Flag.
Blue Earth Area senior Lauren Bleess will give the Gettysburg Address, Marissa Benz will recite General Logan’s Orders and the Blue Earth Area High School Band will perform a medley of patriotic songs. Shane Levenhagen and Austin Skaden will play Taps.
At the time this issue of the Register went to press, the speaker for the Memorial Day address had not been announced.
Winnebago
The Memorial Day Program in Winnebago will be a ceremony at 11:45 a.m. at the Winnebago Veterans Memorial on Monday, May 30.
There will be a short ceremony of laying the wreath and playing Taps.
The Winnebago Women’s Auxillary will be serving coffee and a light snack before and after the ceremony.
Wells
The Memorial Day Program in Wells is being put on by the Wells VFW and VFW Auxiliary on Monday, May 30.
There will be coffee and doughnuts served at the VFW at 9 a.m.
The program will start at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. The speaker will be Ray Rauenhorst.
Delavan and Easton
The Delevan and Easton American Legion Posts will be having their annual vehicle parade and cemetery salute on Monday, May 30.
They will form a parade and visit nine local cemeteries, beginning with Schermerhorn Cemetery at 9 a.m. and ending with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery at 11:40 a.m.
People can join anytime during the route.
Following the Parade and Salute there will be a Community Potluck Social at 12 noon at The Club 569 in Easton.
