Heavy turnout for Election Day
Loveall, Gormley both win

There was a very large turnout of voters in Blue Earth and all around Faribault County for the election on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Above, Sharon Ristau puts her ballot in the machine while election judge Dave Kittleson gets ready to give her an “I voted” sticker.
Faribault County sheriff Mike Gormley and District 4 county commissioner Tom Loveall both were successful in being re-elected to their positions despite facing challengers.
Gormley received 4,734 votes from across the county, while his opponent, Jacob Kral, had 1,116 votes, a margin of 80.18 percent to 19.05 percent.
There were eight write-in votes.
In County Commissioner District 4, incumbent Loveall had 703 votes, or 59.63 percent of the total cast, and his opponent, Dana J. Gates, had 468 votes, or 39.69 percent.
There were eight write-in votes.
In County Commissioner District 2, incumbent Greg Young was running unopposed and garnered 1,122 votes, or 98.51 percent of the total cast in the district. There were 17 write-in votes.
Several other county officers were up for election, all of them running unopposed.
County Auditor/Treasurer Darren Esser received 5,354 votes and there were 18 write-ins.
County Recorder Sheryl “Sherry” Asmus had 5,324 votes and there were also 18 write-ins.
County Attorney Cameron Davis received 5,188 votes and there were 42 write-in votes cast.
