Culpepper & Merriweather Circus comes to town
Catch the Kiwanis-sponsored event at the Fairgrounds on Aug. 6

Skeeter the Clown attended the Faribault County Fair to help promote the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus last Thursday. The circus will be here on Sunday, Aug. 6.
The circus is coming to town! Specifically, the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming to Blue Earth on Sunday, Aug. 6.
It is being sponsored by the Blue Earth Kiwanis Club.
The circus will be set up at the Faribault County Fairgrounds in Blue Earth, and there will be two performances, at 2 and 4:30 p.m.
But, there is also a lot more to see and do on that day.
At 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, there will be the official tent raising and tour time. Everyone is invited to watch the Big Top rise up. People also get a chance to tour the grounds and get a behind-the-scenes look at the show and learn about life on the road and the care the circus animals receive.
Then the Midway opens at 1 p.m., and there are pony rides, a moon bounce, a giant slide, face painting, a concession stand and more.
The box office also opens at 1 p.m. Tickets at the box office on the day of the circus performances are $16 for adults and $9 for children ages two to 12, and senior citizens 65 and older.
Advance tickets are less, at $13 for adults, $8 for children and senior citizens. Those advance tickets are available at Edward Jones, American Family Insurance, the Blue House and from any Blue Earth Kiwanis Club member.
“I hope a lot of folks get advance tickets,” Kiwanis Club member Chase Brandt says. “Not only will they save money and skip standing in line at the ticket office, but the Kiwanis Club gets a higher percentage of the sales from advance tickets.”
The money the Kiwanis Club makes goes back into the community in a variety of ways, as the club supports many youth activities.
The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus has been around for 37 years, providing quality entertainment under the Big Top.
This year they have some brand new performances featuring Big Cats presented by Trey Key, aerialist extraordinaire Simone on the trapeze, 10th generation Loyal Bareback Horse Riders, the Perez Daredevil Duo on the tight rope and the Wheel of Destiny, Elizabeth Ayala’s incredible foot juggling and hair hang, and everyone’s favorite circus clown – Leo Acton.
Each performance lasts around 90 minutes,
Get your advance tickets from any Kiwanis Club member before the date of the circus performances, Aug. 6.
