Three new Griffins join Genesis Classical Academy

GCA also to graduate its first senior class in the spring of 2024

Genesis Classical Academy is welcoming three new teachers to its staff this fall. Pictured above, left to right, they are Amalia Olson, Becky Krause and Krista Bird.

The 2023-24 school year marks a special milestone for Genesis Classical Academy (GCA) in Winnebago, as it will be graduating its first class of seniors in the spring of 2024.

GCA will also welcome three new teachers this fall: Krista Bird, Becky Krause and Amalia Olson.

Krista Bird

Bird is joining GCA’s teaching staff this fall as a Latin instructor for grades five through eight, and a Humanities II teacher for grades nine and 10.

She has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christian studies and English communication and a Master of Arts in education.

Bird brings teaching and administrative experience in residential treatment settings and non-public schools to GCA. She also has tutoring and after-school academics experience.

Bird’s family includes her husband, Patrick, and five children: Kaia, Joshua, Jessica, Hannah and Caleb.

Becky Krause

Krause will be teaching second grade at GCA.

She attended Mankato State University and graduated with a degree in elementary and special education in 1980. Krause went on to earn her MS from St. Cloud State University in early childhood and special education.

Krause began her teaching career in Winnebago in 1980, and continued to build her teaching experience at the Blue Earth Area School District and in Mankato.

She and her husband, Steve, have three sons, two daughters-in-law and seven grandchildren.

Amalia Olson

Olson will join GCA’s teaching staff as a third and fourth grade teacher.

She earned her BA from Concordia College-Moorhead in elementary education, and her MS from MSU-Mankato in special education.

Olson brings 22 years of teaching experience in grades K-12 to GCA.

She has four grown children and five grandchildren.
