BE Council holds special closed session Monday
The discussion topic was ‘certain safety and security measures’
The Blue Earth City Council gathered for a special meeting on Monday, Oct. 23, at 4 p.m.
The meeting had been scheduled following a regular City Council meeting held on Oct. 16. After remaining in closed session for nearly an hour that evening, the council had scheduled the special meeting on Oct. 23 to resume their discussion in closed session.
On Oct. 23, Mayor Rick Scholtes clarified some confusion about the Oct. 16 meeting’s agenda, which had listed two closed sessions: one to discuss certain security matters and another to discuss a real estate transaction.
Scholtes stated that the second closed session had been labeled incorrectly on the Oct. 16 meeting’s agenda, and the council had entered closed session that evening to discuss security matters exclusively.
“It was all security related,” Scholtes said.
The only item on the Oct. 23 special meeting agenda was a closed session resuming the council’s discussion about certain safety and security measures.
The council entered closed session just after 4 p.m., and re-opened the meeting just before 5 p.m.
“No decisions are being made at this time,” Scholtes reported after the meeting was re-opened to the public.
The council then moved to continue their discussion in closed session at a special meeting to be held on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 8 a.m. As such, the council did not adjourn Monday night’s meeting.
