These Blue Earth Area students participated in the latest Math League competition held on Dec. 19. Members of the Blue Earth Area Math League Team were back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 19, for their third meet of the season. The students competed virtually from the BEA High School.

Shattuck-St. Mary’s snared first place with a total of 52 points to finish nine points ahead of Luverne who had 43 points. Coming in third was Waseca with 41 points followed by Fairmont in fourth with 35. BEA’s total of 26 points put them in fifth place. Tri-City United finished in sixth place with 17 points and Lake Crystal/Wellcome Memorial was seventh with 13.

The Division results showed Mankato West coming in first with 57 points with Minnesota Valley Lutheran finishing in the runner-up slot with 53. The rest of the standings showed Waseca in third place with 41 points, Mankato East fourth with 40, Fairmont fifth with 35, St. Peter sixth with 30, BEA seventh with 26 and LCWM eighth with 13.

The Bucs had some fine individual performances with senior Seth Mathews earning six points and classmate Brady Lorenz tallying four. Mathews and Brady were among the top Section scorers in the C (trigonometry) test.

Junior Shaymus Bellecourt nabbed a solid total of four points, including three points in the D (exponents) exam, which was the top score in the Division.

Joe Frundt collected two points, while Manav Chaudhari, Noah Hanson, Jacob Murray, Madison Ehrich, Liv Dutton, Hayden Eddinton and Memphis Johnson each earned one point. Also participating were Seth Stevermer, Mitchell Stevermer, Jamie Johnson, Payten Gudahl and Emily He.

There are two more meets left in the season with the next one being held virtually in Blue Earth, on Jan. 23
