TJD Repair and Service has been announced as the Blue Earth Chamber of Commerce Rising Star Award recipient for 2023.

The award is presented annually to a Blue Earth business which is less than two years old, is committed to promoting the community and shows stability and a future-oriented attitude.

Co-owners Trey Dyslin and Jared Resutek admit they were quite surprised when they learned their business was receiving the award.

“To know we were nominated by someone from the Blue Earth business community means a lot,” Dyslin says.

“We really appreciated how well the Blue Earth community supports us,” Resutek adds.

The business was actually founded by Dyslin in September of 2018 and was located south of Blue Earth.

Dyslin shares he saw the need to expand his business in order to provide timely services to his customers.

Enter Bernie and Scott Kriewall, the owners of Blue Earth Auto and Truck Stop.

“It was time for us to think about slowing down and ease into retirement,” Scott Kriewall said during an interview in April of 2022.

Dyslin and Resutek had become co-owners of the business in March of 2021 and on April 8, 2022, they completed the purchase of Blue Earth Auto and Truck Stop from the Kriewalls.

“The location has worked out great,” Dyslin notes. “We are close to the Interstate and get good exposure.”

TJD Repair and Service employs six people.

“We have five people working in the shop and one in the office,” Dyslin comments. “Cassidy Bartlett is the person in the office and she has been there one and a half years now.”

Resutek notes they have not made a lot of changes since they purchased the building.

“The biggest investment we made was putting a new roof on the building last summer,” he says. “We were having some problems with water leaking into the buildings before we put on the new roof.”

The duo ran through the long list of services they are able to provide which includes repairs to engines, brake systems, exhaust systems, radiators, ignition systems, electrical systems, mechanical systems, transmission systems, clutches and tires, etc.

“We also perform many routine maintenance tasks,” Dyslin adds. “Those include oil changes, and replacing spark plugs, air filters and fuel filters.”

While they work on cars and pickups, Dyslin comments it is something else that really keeps the shop busy.

“Our main business has been on semi truck repair,” he says. “We also work on semi trailers.”

Resutek points out that TJD Repair and Service also provides U.S. Department of Transportation inspections.

“They are an annual requirement for truck drivers in Minnesota,” Resutek says.

And soon, Dyslin notes, they will probably see business pick up in the towing part of their business.

“The first snowfall always seems to end up causing many people to go in the ditch,” Dyslin comments. “It seems to take people a little time to remember they need to slow down when the road conditions are not the greatest.”

Dyslin points out that TJD also has a flatbed truck for transporting a vehicle if that becomes necessary.

“There are also times when we can perform roadside tire repair and some vehicle repairs can also be done on site to get people back on their way,” Dyslin notes.

TJD Repair and Service can also be there to help you if you have a dead battery or lock yourself out of your car.

“We can jumpstart your vehicle and we also provide lock-out services,” Resutek offers.

TJD Repair and Service also has kept other services which were offered by Blue Earth Auto and Truck Stop, including offering U-Haul rental equipment and small bottle and cylinder propane refills.

The business operates with Dyslin as the president and Resutek as the vice president.

Both owners graduated from Blue Earth Area and are happy they were able to find a way to stay in the local area and be a part of the community.

Dyslin’s and Resutek’s wives are also involved in the business. Stephanie Dyslin and Jessica Resutek provide bookkeeping services for the business.

The Dyslins have two children while the Resuteks are expecting their first child in April.

“Again, we just really want to say thanks to the community for supporting us and giving us their business,” Dyslin says. “We are very thankful to be here in Blue Earth.”
