The Gman has always loved to go fishing
Blue Earth’s Gareden Lore is now a Future Angler of Minn.
Gareden Lore holds some of the awards he recently received at a Future Anglers of Minnesota event in Ham Lake.
Most kids love to fish, but a Blue Earth boy has taken it to the next level.
Gareden Lore of Blue Earth, age 11, and nicknamed Gman, has loved fishing since he was four years old. His parents, Merissa and Jon Lore, couldn’t get Gareden off the dock or out of his dad’s tackle boxes from a young age. If he could choose one thing to do in a day, it would be fishing.
Gareden has a love and passion for the outdoors and the water. In 2020 Gareden received a GoPro action camera for Christmas, which has its own mobile app and video editing software.
With the help of his father, Gareden started a YouTube channel called GMan’s Fishing Adventures, and started videoing their fishing outings in January 2021.
His parents goal of the YouTube channel was to build confidence and break him out of his shell after the effect COVID had on him.
Currently his site has almost 3,000 subscribers, 795 videos, and 1,953,200 views since he joined in 2021 and the Future Anglers of Minnesota took notice.
The Future Anglers of Minnesota (FAM) is a nonprofit organization designed to teach kids about life through fishing. The goal is to get them hooked on fishing and build life lessons along the way. They empower kids to set goals, work hard to achieve them, and to be a good person.
Gareden was selected as a 2024 Future Legend Ambassador through FAM. His teacher, pastor, and coach wrote reference letters for the Future Legend application process and he thanks them for all of their help and kind words.
The FAM organization’s Future Legend program is a way for kids who meet the organization’s motto and goals to become ambassadors and help empower, teach, and lead other kids in falling in love with fishing while furthering their fishing skills.
Gareden will have the opportunity to travel across the state, fish, and teach others about fishing while spending time with a group of past Future Legends that share his passion for fishing.
Gareden enjoys watching the number of people that like, comment, and subscribe to his YouTube channel and loves teaching other people about fishing through the platform. He has participated in fishing tournaments and events around the state including Future Anglers of Minnesota events.
On Sunday, Sept. 22, at Ham Lake, Gareden was awarded a lifetime fishing license, a Scheels gift card, a HBS fishing rod, which is a sturdy yet light weight rod made for freshwater fishing.
He was also awarded $1,000 in fishing gear of his choice, a Clam ice suit, which provides extended hypothermia protection, a guided fishing trip and hotel stay for two, and lusive mentorsip from FAM volunteers.
Gareden will fish anywhere around the area and state but the family often travels to Hager City Wisconsin, across the Mississippi river from Red Wing, to camp and fish.
Gareden is in sixth grade and has two siblings, Lakyn who is his sister and is in third grade, and his brother Olin who is in first grade. All go to BEA.
Merissa, who is a gymnastics coach at the Blue Earth Gymnastics center, said that Olin likes to fish but he doesn’t want help, and he likes shore fishing and doesn’t have the patience for a long trip on the boat.
“Lakyn is not into fishing much. She only goes if mom goes with and will tell you she’s a gymnast and not a fisher girl.” Merissa said.
Gareden is extremely proud and grateful and always says “Nothing beats a day of fishing!”
