Faribault County’s cities elect mayors, councils
The polling station in Blue Earth, as well as others in the county, saw a steady stream of voters all day long, with an occasional line waiting to come in and cast their votes.
All of the cities and towns in Faribault County held elections for mayor and city council members during the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
In many cases there were few contests for the positions, with incumbents running unopposed. But in some, such as in the city of Elmore, there were multiple people running for both mayor and council.
Here is a rundown on the results from last Tuesday.
Elmore
Zachary Dahl was elected mayor of Elmore with 151 votes. Michael “Mike” Schutta received 79 votes and there was just one write-in.
Six people were vying for two council seats. Dave Davis had the most votes with 121. In second place was Betty R. Myhrom with 118 votes. Those two were elected to council. Others on the ballot were Tyler Boettcher with 73 votes, Elton Rhoda with 43, Jacob Burgett with 33 and Babette Tallberg with 19. There were four write-in votes.
There was another council seat open for a special election. Only Sue Dickson was running and she received 197 votes. There were 17 write-in votes also.
Blue Earth
In Blue Earth, mayor Rick Scholtes was running unopposed and received 1,382 votes. There were also 125 write-in votes.
For council, three incumbents were running and there was one challenger. All three were re-elected. Michael McNerny received the most votes with 1,240, Stephanie Walter had 896 votes and John Huisman received 806. Challenger Lawrence Berg had 669 votes and there were also 71 write-in votes cast.
Blue Earth also had an election for three open seats on the Board of Public Works. Lars Bierly received 1,262 votes, Tim Juba had 1,260 votes and Doug Storbeck had 1,191 votes and all three were elected. There were also 23 write-in votes.
Winnebago
In Winnebago Jean Anderson was re-elected mayor with 479 votes. There were 99 write-in votes as well.
Three were running for two seats on the council and the two incumbents were re-elected. Chris Anderson received 378 votes, Tony O’Donnell had 259 votes and challenger Jane Sybrandt had 196. There were also 107 write-in votes.
Delavan
In Delavan, Max Abdo was elected mayor with 87 votes. There were two write-ins.
Only one name was on the ballot for the two council seats. Chris Kruse received 73 votes and there were 39 write-in votes. In a special election for another council seat, Lisa Schultz was running unopposed and received 72 votes with 13 write-in votes also cast.
Easton
In Easton Bryant Stiernagle was elected mayor with 101 votes. There were five write-in votes.
Anthony Stevermer received 95 votes for council and Jon Rath received 84 and both were re-elected to the council. There were 15 write-in votes.
Wells
In Wells, mayor David Braun was re-elected mayor with 996 votes. There were also 34 write-in votes.
For council, Nancy Kruger had 840 votes and Brenda Weber 821 votes and both were re-elected. There were also 87 write-in votes.
Kiester
Hope Bauman was running unopposed and was re-elected mayor with 191 votes. There were 28 write-ins.
Brandon Hagenson got 188 votes, and Kurt Grobe had 183 votes and both were elected to the council. There were 11 write-ins.
Bricelyn
There was a race for mayor in Bricelyn and John Goette was elected with 118 votes. Douglas L. Ellickson received 51 votes and there were three write-in votes.
William Hagen had 130 votes for council and Harold Albrant had 107 and both were elected. There were 14 write-in votes.
Frost
In Frost Brian (Bob) Loge was elected mayor with 109 votes and there was also one write-in vote.
Three were running for the two open seats on the City Council and Lee Lincoln received 91 votes and Matt Gullord had 80 votes and both were elected. Patricia T. Boman had 28 votes and there was one write-in vote cast.
