Eastbound I-90 was closed for a few hours on Wednesday while crews worked to clear an accident at milepost No. 127, one mile west of the Frost-Easton exit.

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 from Blue Earth to the Frost-Easton exit were closed for a few hours on Wednesday morning, Feb. 26, due to an accident which occurred just before 6 a.m. that morning.

According to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol, a tractor trailer was westbound on I-90 when it entered the median and rolled before coming to a stop in the eastbound lanes of traffic.

The accident occurred in Emerald Township near milepost No. 127.

The semi was a 2022 Peterbilt driven by 45-year-old Christopher Neisler, of Madison, Wisconsin.

The road conditions were dry and the airbag in the semi did not deploy.

Neisler was transported by ambulance to United Hospital District with non-life threatening injuries.

The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, the Blue Earth Police Department, the Frost Fire Department and ambulance assisted at the scene.

Following the accident, eastbound traffic was required to exit off of I-90 at Blue Earth. Vehicles coming off the interstate were detoured to County Road 16 where they traveled east to County Road 17 where they were able to reenter the freeway. The entrance to I-90 at Blue Earth was also blocked off during the time of the closure.

By late Wednesday morning, the accident was cleared and Interstate 90 was reopened for traffic.
