Blue Earth EDA makes forgiveable loan
Will be used to replace windows in a building on Main Street
A Commercial Improvement Forgivable Loan for Stonefield Pastel was top of the agenda at the Blue Earth EDA meeting on Friday, July 18.
EDA specialist Amy Schaefer presented the EDA with a Commercial Improvement Forgivable Loan application from Stonefield Pastel.
“Jim Pollard is seeking a loan to help replace the four second-story windows for Stonefield Pastel, located at 110 North Main Street,” Schaefer explained. “He has given us two bids for the project, one from Vets Glass at an estimated value of $9,400 and the other from Andrew Lorenzen Construction at an estimated value of $15,100. The loan would be for half of the total price of whichever bid he chooses, which would be $4,700 for Vets Glass or $5,000 for Andrew Lorenzen Construction.”
Lissia Laehn raised a question about one of the bids, questioning the total amount listed on the application form.
“It says in the description for the Andrew Lorenzen Construction bid that it will only be replacing two windows instead of four, at a price of $7,550,” Laehn observed. “Where is the $15,100 number coming from?”
“If you look at the notes written at the bottom of that bid, Pollard wants to replace all four windows, so the given price estimate would be doubled to $15,100,” Schaefer responded.
Hearing no further discussion on the issue, a motion was made to approve the Commercial Improvement Forgivable Loan for Stonefield Pastel in the value of either $4,700 or $5000, dependent on which bid was selected. The motion was passed unanimously.
