Former Nortech building sold, but still for sale
The former Nortech Aerospace building in Blue Earth’s West Industrial Park is under new ownership, and that new owner is looking to sell or lease the property.
“We did purchase the building and property,” Jerry Clark, a commercial realtor in the Twin Cities confirmed. “We had looked around for out-state commercial property and located this one. We purchased it for way less than it had been appraised for a couple of years ago.”
The “We” in this case is a group of investors who formed a company called 1930 West First Street LLC, which is the address for the former Nortech facility.
Their plan is to sell the property or lease it to an interested buyer – a company or business.
“It had not been real well maintained, so we knew we would have to invest in some fixing up,” Clark explains. “Some of that work will be done when we know what will be in the building.”
It depends on whether it becomes a one-tenant building or a multiple tenant building, Clark says.
“The work could be in a lease or sales agreement,” he explains. “If an interested party wants to modify it. We can then figure out what we have and what is needed for their uses.”
Clark says there are some things that need attention no matter what. That includes the landscape, removal of trees, clearing the ditch around the building and more. That work is also to make the site more palatable to potential buyers or renters.
Clark says there has already been some interest in the property and he feels confident there are companies in Minnesota and Iowa and elsewhere that are looking for expansion space.
“We have enlisted a company out of Albertville that specializes in this,” Clark says. “They are the Berkshire Company and they have facilitated sales and leasing of buildings like this in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and virtually all across the country.”
Nortech moved out of the building over several months and were completely moved out by December of this past year.
Most of the Blue Earth operation and some employees were transferred to the Nortech plant in Bemidji.
