When Morgan Myers got the news that Ryno Repair had been nominated for the Blue Earth Chamber of Commerce’s Rising Star Award, it came as a total surprise.
“I found out that we had been nominated at the end of December, right around the holidays,” Myers recalls. “Sara Ferguson from the Chamber came by to deliver the news. It completely caught me off guard – we’ve been so busy this winter that the thought didn’t even cross our minds. We also found out that we were one of the two spotlight businesses for January for the EDA’s Experience Blue Earth program around the same time, so that was an extra surprise.”
Now, Morgan and her husband Ryne are the official 2025 recipients of the Rising Star Award, which is presented each year to recognize a business that is less than two years old, is committed to promoting the community, shows stability, and has a future-oriented attitude.
The story of Ryno Repair starts back in the winter of 2023-24, a time of uncertainty and new beginnings for the Myers family.
“I had just started homeschooling all three of my kids, I wasn’t working, and we were trying to figure out what we wanted to do,” Myers shares. “We had always wanted to start our own auto repair business, and this just felt like the perfect place to make that dream a reality.”
Initially, the couple hadn’t planned on their current location at 112 South Grove Street as their place of business; rather, they had wanted to purchase some land and build a shop of their own.
“Around the time that we were looking for an empty lot to purchase, this building got listed for sale,” Myers explains. “We got all kinds of recommendations from community members telling us that we should consider purchasing it, even though it was a much bigger space than we needed and it was out of our budget. Eventually, though, we were talked into touring the building, and we fell in love with it the minute we stepped inside.”
Along with being in a convenient spot right next to Highway 169, Ryno Repair’s building also carries a lot of history. Formerly the location of Hanson Auto Repair, the brick building has also been home to a Studebaker dealership and Hi-Way Ford across its 100-year lifespan.
“The highway location was a big selling point for us, but the history of the building itself was, too,” Myers comments. “I’ve gotten so many comments from people who are happy that we’re keeping the old building and its history alive.”
Ryno Repair officially opened for business in June 2024, and has received overwhelming support from its community over the years. Now, the business is focused on giving back to that same community in as many ways as possible, whether it’s through quality repair services, hosting food trucks in its empty lot, or scheduling events like Hi-Way Motor Fest.
“We serviced a grand total of 1,063 cars in 2025, which is a lot considering it’s just the five of us working here – myself, my husband Ryne, and our three kids, Maverick, Devyn, and Ravyn,” Myers reports. “Our top service was diagnostics, and we did 37 transmission and engine repairs. On the community side, we hosted seven different food trucks and 13 farmer’s market vendors, and we had over 250 attendees at Motor Fest, which was an amazing turnout for its first year.”
Myers also revealed that she has plenty more in store for the coming year, with several new projects and programs in the works to further connect with the community.
“We’re hosting a four-day auto repair workshop called Under The Hood: Automotive Basics coming up in April, which is targeted at kids ages 15-18,” Myers shares. “We’ve already received a ton of positive feedback for the idea, and there’s been enough demand that we’re putting together a workshop for adults as well. We’re also going to host a music event this summer called Rockin’ Roll-Ins, the first one of which will be on June 19 and feature local music group Blue Dirt Road.”
Overall, Myers is incredibly grateful for the amount of support that Ryno Repair has received from the Blue Earth community, and looks forward to continuing to give back to the city in as many ways as she can for many years to come.
“We genuinely wouldn’t be where we are today without our supporters,” Myers admits. “Almost every day I’m getting positive feedback from our community. I have customers coming in and telling me how much they appreciate our work, or just people we know from the community who stop in to say hi and tell us thank you. It means the absolute world to us.”
The Myers will receive their Rising Star Award during the annual Blue Earth Chamber of Commerce Banquet, which will be held this year on Saturday, Jan. 24 at the 10 Talents Center for the Arts.
