Local company facing many lawsuits
Trailer manufacturer moved to West Industrial Park in October of 2022
HeavyLite Trailers, LLC. moved to their location in Blue Earth’s Golden Spike Business Park in October of 2022. Now, the company is facing several lawsuits.
A local Blue Earth company is facing numerous lawsuits after customers of the company say they made down payments on products they have never received.
HeavyLite Trailers, LLC, began as a business in 2021. However, they did not move to their location in Blue Earth’s Golden Spike Business Park until October of 2022.
“We needed to move to a commercial property to obtain a commercial dealer’s license,” owner Andrew Sickler explained in a July 2023 article in the Faribault County Register.
According to information found on the website mncourts.gov, McNeilus Steel of Dodge Center appears to be the first plaintiff to have filed a lawsuit against HeavyLite Trailers.
In a court document dated May 28, 2025, McNeilus Steel was awarded $15,092.77 with the amount to include prejudgment interest and costs and disbursements.
Many other lawsuits have been filed since then with a total of 19 cases found on the website with Sickler named as the defendant – the latest one being filed on May 19 by a man from Easton.
Three other cases, in addition to the one brought by McNeilus, have been marked closed on the website but the judgments have not yet been officially finalized.
According to an article in the Mankato Free Press dated May 16, reported losses for customers who have not filed in court but say they never received product stands at just under $200,000. However, another article in the Mankato Free Press states that Sickler disputes allegations that HeavyLite Trailers operated fraudulently and says the company remains active and continues producing trailers, though at significantly reduced capacity.
In the 2023 Register article, Sicker said his company had basically achieved their 3-5 year goals in the first 3-5 months.
“We already have 14 dealers located throughout the United States,” Sickler said at the time.
Sickler now says HeavyLite Trailers has transitioned into direct-to-customer builds, according to the article in the Mankato Free Press.
It remains to be seen if the company will survive and if any customers who made down payments will be able to recover any of their money or receive their completed trailers.
