Larry Cassens, 62
Blue Earth — Mr. Larry Cassens, age 62, of Blue Earth, died Jan. 29, 2008, at United Hospital, Blue Earth. Funeral services were held on Feb. 2, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Stephen Bohling and Rev. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.
He was born Sept. 21, 1945, in Blue Earth, the son of Onnen B. and Ann M. (Pudwell) Cassens.
Larry was raised in the Huntley area where he was a 1964 graduate of Huntley High School. Following graduation he farmed on his family farm and was later married to Susan R. “Sue” True on April 22, 1966 at the East Chain Lutheran Church. The couple farmed the family farm for many years and he also worked for Green Giant company at harvest time. Larry retired from farming in 2000 and drove a truck for Darling International. In 2006, he completely retired for health reasons. He was a longtime member of the Pilot Grove Lutheran Church where he served as a board member. When the church closed he became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Larry had also served as a Granada-Huntley-East Chain School Board Member.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sue Cassens of Blue Earth, his mother, Ann Cassens of Blue Earth, his daughter, Amanda (Shawn) Goblirsch of Janesville, his son, Andrew (LaRae) Cassens of Alden, his three sisters: Arlene (Raymond) Peterson of Cross Lake, Shirley (Donald) Teems of Blue Earth, Connie (Carl) Fratzke of Hutchinson and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and nephews, Mike Teems and Tim Weise.
