Mabel Hanson, 104
Blue Earth — Mabel Hanson, 104, of Blue Earth, died Jan. 28, 2008 at the St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. A Celebration of Life Service was held Jan. 31, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church in Blue Earth by the Rev. Robert Maharry and Rev. Karl Rydholm. Burial will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is assisting with the arrangements.
Mabel Hanson was born Aug. 22, 1903 in Sleepy Eye, and was the daughter of George and Mary (Knudsen) Foster. After she graduated from high school, Mabel went on to Mankato State where she earned a degree in teaching. She taught first grade in Blue Earth and North St. Paul. She was united in marriage on Sept. 6, 1930 to Norman Hanson in Winthrop. Mabel was active in the First Presbyterian Church teaching Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, and entertaining. She leaves her family and grandchildren with many special memories.
Mabel was a loving and devoted mother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her two daughters, Kayla Richey of Blue Earth and Lois Ann (Daniel) Clark of Burlington, Iowa; one sister, Alice Cameron of Missoula, Mont.; six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, parents, one brother, and 3 sisters.
