Johnnie Meyering, 82
Elmore — Johnnie Meyering, age 82, of Elmore, passed away on Feb. 29, 2008, at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. His funeral ceremony was March 4, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmore with Pastor Dale Kohrs officiating. Burial was at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center, Iowa.
Johnnie Meyering was born on Feb. 8, 1926, near Buffalo Center, Iowa. He was the son of Trena (Meyering) Skilbred. He attended country school.
Johnnie worked on the family farm until becoming employed at Elmore Concrete. He worked there for 35 years until he retired. He also served as a volunteer fireman for 17 years.
Johnnie married Jerena Marion Jansen on June 28, 1950, and they made their home in Elmore. This union was blessed with five children. He enjoyed camping, playing bingo, reading and watching TV.
Johnnie died on Feb. 29, 2008, at St.Lukes Lutheran Home in Blue Earth, where he resided since October of 2003.
Johnnie is survived by his wife Jerena; two sons: Johnnie (Elaine) Meyering Jr. of Chanhassen, and Ronnie Meyering of Elmore; three daughters: Henrietta (Thomas) Halvorson of Forest City, Iowa, Teresa (Craig) Lyon of Champlin, Lori (Paul) Huebert of Mankato; seven grandchildren: Tami Halvorson, Johnnie M. Meyering, Miranda Meyering, Jennifer Lyon, Breanna Lyon, Lorissa Huebert and Rachel Huebert; half-sister Karen (Dean) Pickerell of Minnetonka; and half-brother Lawrence (Pat) Skilbred of Ind.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandson Thomas Halvorson.
