Marie Anderson, 95

Elmore — Marie Anderson, 95, formerly of Elmore, died March 12, 2008, at Parker Oaks in Winnebago.

Funeral services were held March 22, 2008 at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore, with Rev. Robert Roettger officiating. Burial was at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center, Iowa. Winter Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

Marie was born on Jan. 29, 1913 to Theodore and Sarah (Doege) Dorenbush in Buffalo Center. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Buffalo Center on Aug. 20, 1914. Marie graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1931. Marie also earned her Normal Training Certificate and taught school for three years near Buffalo Center and Lakota, Iowa.

Marie was married to Clifford Anderson on May 31, 1934, at Elmore. They farmed near Titonka, Iowa for a few years and then near Elmore for many years. Marie and Clifford were members of Salem Lutheran Church, at Pilot Grove, and Marie was confirmed there on Feb. 12, 1950. They retired and moved to Elmore in 1976 and Marie lived there until August 2007.

Marie enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, gardening, and all aspects of making a home for her family. She was involved with 4-H and was an active member of her ladies circle at Salem Lutheran Church, in Pilot Grove, for many years, and then at Shiloh Lutheran Church, in Elmore, in her later years.

She is survived by her three sons: Larry D. Anderson of Titonka; Roger D. (Eleanor) Anderson of Lake Crystal; and Robert C. (Kathy) Anderson of Buhl; grandchildren: Mark Anderson and special friend Sandy Smith of Lakota; Diane Anderson of Titonka; Kris (Brent) Jackson of North Mankato; Kari (Dennis) Teachout of Mankato; Anita (Jim) Bassett of Mankato; David (Elizabeth) Anderson of Eagan; Lance Anderson of Buhl; and Lane (Angie) Anderson of Virginia; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; half-sister Irene Spaulding of Elbow Lake; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford, grandson Allen, daughter-in-law Charlotte, and sister Ruby Luckow.
