Juliet Uppena, 86

Blue Earth — Juliet Uppena, age 86, of Blue Earth, died March 19, 2008, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Memorial services were held March 27, 2008, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Dale Kohrs officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth at a later date. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Blue Earth, the daughter of Gustave and Mary (Schneider) Keller. She was raised and educated in Blue Earth, where she was a 1939 graduate of Blue Earth High School. Following high school she received her normal training and began to teach. She attended Mankato State College in Mankato, earning an associates degree in Education. She later earned her bachelors degree in Education from St. Cloud State University. She was married to Eugene L. Uppena on Aug. 4, 1953 in Cassville, Wis. The couple lived in Glencoe and later in Litchfield before returning to Blue Earth in 1971. Juliet taught special education in the Litchfield school. She worked for Telex Co. for many years.

Juliet is survived by her husband, Gene Uppena of Blue Earth, her daughter, Mary Uppena of Rochester and her sister, Gertrude Arends of Blue Earth.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Carl and Gerhardt Keller.
